Lifeguard Training June 8-9

 

 This is a BLENDED ONLINE AND IN-PERSON CLASS. You will be required to finish the online content which is available on our website and in your confirmation letter upon registration.

 

 

We have a strict cancellation and no-show policy. There are absolutely no refunds for no-shows, so be sure of your schedule before signing up for our classes.

  • The prerequisite skills evaluation will occur on the first day of the course.
    PHYSICAL TEST to join this class:
    #1)  300 Yard/Meter Swim (12 x 1-length or the pool) - The purpose of this test is to show that your endurance and skill in swimming is at the level of the requirements of the rescues. You will need to swim the majority of this test using Freestyle/front crawl with your head down and side breathing. You should not be struggling at the end of the 12 laps.
    #2) 2 minutes of treading with no arms
    #3) Swim 20 meters or 1 length, dive down 7-10 feet and retrieve a 10-lb weight and swim back with two hands on the brick.
     
  • If you are unable to pass the prerequisite, you will be unable to take the course and will be refunded your registration fee.  Please bring a swimsuit and towel for the skills evaluation and for every class. It is advised you bring (2) towels and clothes to keep you warm, as we will be in and out of the pool and some of our facilities are outdoors.
  • Before you attend class: *****Ensure you read chapters 1-9 in your lifeguard manual PRIOR TO THE FIRST DAY.*****The manual is a requirement for all lifeguards working in the profession and should be purchased from the Red Cross store here at the following link:

  • To successfully complete the course, you must attend the entire course, participate in all skill sessions/drills, activities and scenarios, demonstrate competency in all required skills and scenarios, and pass the final written exams with a minimum grade of 80 percent
