Lifeguard instructor certification course

 

 

This course certifies American Red Cross Lifeguard Instructors

There is a non-refundable $50 fee if you sign up for this class and can not meet the minimum skills expectation of a regular working Lifeguard, so please make sure that you are prepared in your basic lifeguard and C-PRO skills. If you have doubts about your skills, you should call to discuss anything you are unsure of. Do not wait until the day to test your skills if you are unsure.

 

You will need following materials for the class 

* A Hip Pack (optional for the class)

* Infant as well as Adult/child size resuscitation masks

* A printed version of the LIFEGUARD INSTRUCTORS manual

Purpose of this course:

To train instructor candidates to teach the following:

-Lifeguarding course

-Shallow Water Lifeguarding course

-Lifeguarding Blended Learning course

-Waterfront Skills module

-Waterpark Skills module

-CPR/AED for Professional Rescuers and Health Care Providers course

-Bloodborne Pathogens Training

-Administering Emergency Oxygen course

 

Upon completion of the Lifeguarding Instructor course you should be

able to:

 

Exhibit characteristics required of an American Red Cross

representative and role model.

Conduct courses in a manner that helps participants stay engaged

in the learning process.

Know how to plan and organize the Lifeguarding course.

Effectively use program materials and training equipment.

Perform applicable in-water rescue, first aid, CPR and AED skills

at an instructor-level proficiency.

Instructor Candidate Prerequisites

 

As an instructor candidate, you must meet some prerequisites to

enter the Lifeguarding Instructor course. They include the following:

 

 

 

You must complete each of the following as part of the Online

Session:

- Orientation to the Lifeguarding Instructor course

- Orientation to the American Red Cross

- Pre-course Exam

- You must correctly answer at least 80 percent of the questions

on the Pre-course Exam.
